I just found out that the current crop of LED TV on the market now is not a true LED TV. They’re just LED backlit LCD TV. Which is to say they replaced the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) with the LED. This comes as a surprise to me because I thought they replaced the individual primary color emitters with LEDs or OLEDs. Apparently I was wrong. A quick search through the market for LED TV turns out, surprisingly, not even one true LED TV. All the search turns out are LED-LCD TV. So not mainstream. And people are paying through their nose (well, at least higher price) to buy a LED backlit LCD TV!

Why would anyone want to throw their money away like that, I do not know.
